Meanwhile, in the local primetime...

Just when this local network comes to the precipice of finding ideas for a primetime that would earn high ratings, came an idea. Nobody thought of making a soap opera about same-sex relationships, most especially on Philippine TV and they did. Brilliant. Yes, in a country with strong religious roots this awareness was no longer discreet, as one would describe a closeted gay man. So yeah let's bring it to the light, they thought, and soon enough it was the talk of the town. Who would've known? It would seem a desperate move for the network to win back it's viewers but people and the regulatory board gave it a chance and many watched, became hooked, and soon they found themselves able to relate to the story.

And so the late night TV was graced with the show "My Husband's Lover". When husbands cheat question would be: who is the mistress? But it was never asked of which gender. Why? Because that would be denied unthinkable, though it is a possibility. The fear you get out of watching this soap is that you would think it could happen to you, and you catch your husband doing what you thought was unthinkable. In a way, it makes you think on the premise that it is indeed happening, as the story tells, and right under your nose. Though wives watch it anyway because intrigue excites us and we do want to know the resolution to this dilemma, so we would be able to know how to cope up should it happen to us, or for the wives anyway. And because the two leading men are hot and we spend so much time thinking there could be something happening between them off camera that we don't know.

Both in and out of the story context fans gathered all the same *ehem* and loved the chemistry between the two male leads namely Dennis Trillo and Tom Rodriguez. Not only were they hot and looked hot together, but they are very promising actors in such challenging roles. One could only think of an unspeakably possible motivation why. Out of this fandom came the portmanteau "TomDen" because people would like to believe it's in real life. The two actors were surprised by the success of the team up and found themselves in for a lot of teasing specifically in an interview. I squirmed with so much mush, my brain died. They confessed the awkwardness they had while doing the scenes but there were no qualms whatsoever in the quality of their acting. Although Tom did look a lot titillated in the interview with Dennis *hihihi.

Well, assuming our fantasies were real, which do you think of these two pictures convince you most? :)

Well, in hindsight of these two actors' lovely behinds, we thought we weren't ready to handle issues like this, and how the public reacts to it was just the right nudge to people concerned that issues like this are best confronted with the absence of prejudice. The actors believe this could be a start of something good for this kind of subject in the industry. We all do as well.

Well, cheers to that!

In choosing the best Doomsday Movie Marathon

While we anxiously wait for the worldly catastrophe as told by the Mayans, we'll be wondering over which to spend our remaining time with. Cineastes would prefer it this way, going by the movies that showed how deeply profound human life has been; rediscovering life as it happens through these facets of reality. Well, with the time we have left there's no better way to recapitulate the existence we have led as stewards of this world and the amount of self-actualization we have contributed thus far. That we've made concepts by virtue of our human capacity and how it shaped our state of being.

These masterpieces remind us of the ups and downs of our dominance in this earth we live in through which, we come to see the substance of things that have been taking place all around us. These are but the titles of some I have greatly cherished to the countless other films that's ever been put to motion. Let's visit them again.

Hotel Rwanda

"There will be no rescue, no intervention for us. We can only save ourselves. Many of you know influential people abroad, you must call these people. You must tell them what will happen to us... say goodbye. But when you say goodbye, say it as if you are reaching through the phone and holding their hand. Let them know that if they let go of that hand, you will die. We must shame them into sending help."

Malena

"Time has passed, and I have loved many women. And as they've held me close... and asked if I will remember them I've said, "Yes, I will remember you." But the only one I've never forgotten is the one who never asked... Malena."

The Cure

"Suppose you kept going another 18 billion light years, what if there's nothing out there? Suppose you kept going another trillion times further, so far out you see nothing. The light from the universe would be fainter than the faintest star. Infinitely cold. Infinitely dark. Sometimes if I wake up and it's dark, I get really scared, like I'm out there and I'm never coming back."

"Here, *hands over shoe* hold on to this while you sleep. And when you wake up and you're scared say, "Wait a minute, I'm holding Eric's shoe. Why the hell would I be holding some smelly basketball shoe a trillion light years from the universe? I must be here on earth inside my sleeping bag. Eric must be close by."

Cinema Paradiso

"Out of the fire of love come ashes. Even the greatest love eventually fizzles out."

The Kite Runner

"There is only one sin, only one—and that is theft. Every other sin is a variation of theft. When you kill a man, you steal a life. You steal his wife's right to a husband, rob his children of a father. When you tell a lie, you steal someone's right to the truth. When you cheat, you steal the right to fairness."

The Piano

"The voice you hear is not my speaking voice but my mind's voice."

City of Angels

"I would rather have one breath of her hair, one kiss from her mouth, one touch of her hand, than eternity without it."

The Bucket List

"Find the joy in your life."

Anybody home?

I am back. (drum rolls and confetti) While this blog's been under neglect, I was busy dealing with life. What a complicated thing. You would eventually find your self in the thick and particularly lost in it. What happens next? This post. Well, I took time to recover where I left off and there my gag reflex came to greet me. Ack. The last few hours were spent questioning the existence of this blog. Shameful. Reading it has never been ridiculously sounding as I had imagined it would be back then. It's like hearing your childish wits speaking. You find yourself years later laughing at every single thing you've written. Sad. I officially never want to meet my future self.

Expect more stupidity. I haven't really grown up that much anyway...

Awaaaard!

This zomvie (zombie movie. XD) is unlike the typical zombie apocalypse movies you've seen. Although in this movie, the zombies are also out to get brains, especially that proverbial one which men had between their legs. Speaking of humor, the comedy in this movie is so well executed you could die laughing. Yes, it was my first time to watch quite a combination and I'm amazed how they came up with such a concoction to the flick. It's really effective and it lives up to the reputation of a bonafide indie film, apart from those which we've been exposed under, same old stories of the morbid lives of fellows, who were unfortunate to be objectified in this country's gruesome sex trade; silly excuse of an art film. Overall, it's nice change of pace in the silver screen, a unique movie that is a no-brainer anyone could watch.

Once in our lives we may have encountered someone like Remington, an extreme homophobe. For reasons that I wouldn't want to spoil the plot, I'll settle with this much description. The rest would be for the viewers to unearth. Try to imagine how a misbehaved boy's petty provocation to irk an elderly queer led to a life-changing consequence. If you happen to have a uniquely bizarre way of imagining things then you might get a gist of how "Zombadings: Patayin sa shokot si Remington" will progress in story.

We were meant to be entertained in this movie but it cannot be avoided that some would perceive it as horror, an apparent reality in the society that is ought not to be made a laughing matter because of the encouragement it could draw out from homophobes. I don't think the people behind the production are that dense to overlook the delicacy of these sexuality issues, it's just that it really wasn't meant to get serious about. It's not about making fun of ourselves, it was to make us laugh amid the cruel situation we are in, after all, gay people wouldn't suit the term gay if not for their ability to make fun of everything. This strikes me as an empowerment, above all, that we shouldn't live in fear that we could not be accepted for who are because that isn't truly freedom. We are afraid of the hate crimes but that should not deter us from being who we truly are because only in persistence will we get acknowledgement. I think they made their point clear, that no matter how much they kill homosexuality, it could not be terminated completely because it is a natural phenomenon that randomly manifests, with or without choice. It has a resilience that of which is similar to a zombie, capable of rising again and again, from generations to generations that will continue to haunt the world until they get the message that homosexuals are not going stay quiet, we're here to stay. How this film said it was the difference. It was in a funny way that even haters or bitters could extract joy from it.

This film's brilliance outshines by far and has uplifted the value of indie films out from the graves.
